Cabo de Gata from September 11 to 13, 2026

Pay close attention to what I’m about to propose:

  • September 11-13, 2026
  • Intensive workshop on landscape photography, night photography, and astrophotography
  • Cabo de Gata, on the coast of Almeria, Spain
  • Two specialized photographers at your complete disposal

Sound interesting? Let me give you more details:

WHO WILL BE WITH YOU THROUGHOUT THE WEEKEND?

Luis Miguel Azorin

Passionate about nature photography in its broadest sense. I photograph everything from the smallest elements, the world of macro photography, to the largest and most distant things we can photograph, the universe, without neglecting other natural disciplines such as landscape or night photography. But despite the wide variety of branches of photography I cover, I would say that my true specialties are astrophotography and night photography.

Javier Alonso Torre

Javier stands out as one of the best landscape photographers in our country. Author of books such as “Fotografiando el Cantábrico” (Photographing the Cantabrian Sea) and “El Arte de Fotografiar la Naturaleza” (The Art of Photographing Nature), Javier brings purism and minimalism to his particular way of seeing the landscape, capturing it in an image that is practically finished in the camera, at the moment of capture.

You can see more of Javier’s work on his website:  https://javieralonsotorre.com/

WHO IS THIS WORKSHOP FOR?

Any amateur or professional photographer who wants to enjoy a full weekend practicing photography in a natural setting such as Cabo de Gata, in Almería, with the support of two photographers who specialize in disciplines such as landscape photography and night photography, and in the company of other photographers who share their passion for nature photography.

WHAT DOES THE WORKSHOP INCLUDE?

Photography advice from Javier Alonso Torre and Luis Miguel Azorin

We will be at your complete disposal throughout the weekend.

The workshop will include a theoretical part, which will take place at the hotel where we will be staying, and a practical part consisting of several photography outings at sunrise, sunset, and nighttime to previously selected photogenic locations in Cabo de Gata.

We will help you with the configuration of your photographic equipment, the use of your filters, and the composition of your photographs… And we will show you our techniques in landscape photography, night photography, and even astrophotography.

WHAT IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE WORKSHOP?

1. Accomodation

We will be staying at a local hotel, which will be where we will hold the theoretical part of the workshop, and our base for the photography outings.

2. Meals

The idea is for the whole group to eat together, to share opinions and be better coordinated for the photography outings.

3. Transfers

Transfers from the hotel or to the hotel, and to the locations to be photographed, will be made in private vehicles.

WHAT ARE THE PLANS FOR THE WEEKEND?

Friday, September 11

Throughout the day, we will welcome all attendees. That same afternoon, we will have our first sunset photo shoot at a location that has been previously selected and agreed upon by the group.

After the sunset photography session, we will have dinner, and then begin the first night photography session of the workshop. Depending on the start time and location for the night session, dinner may consist of sandwiches. The night session will continue until the attendees decide to call it a night.

Saturday, September 12

We will start the day early, getting up at dawn to photograph the sunrise at one of the selected locations.

After the sunrise session, we will have breakfast. We’ve earned it! Then we will begin the theoretical part of the workshop, where we will learn about:

  • Techniques and methods for landscape photography
  • Introduction to night photography and astrophotography

After the theoretical part, we will have free time to eat and rest.

In the afternoon, we will hold the second sunset photo session. We will put into practice everything we have learned in the theoretical part and make the most of the potential of the Cabo de Gata locations.

After the sunset session, we will have dinner, and then begin the second night photography session. Depending on the start time and location, dinner may consist of sandwiches.

If the weather is clear and conditions allow, we will set up some star tracker mounts and put into practice the astrophotography techniques learned in the theoretical part of the workshop.

The night session will continue until the participants decide to call it a night.

Sunday, September 13

We will get up early for the second and final sunrise photography session of the workshop.

After the sunrise session, we will have breakfast and begin reviewing the photographs taken over the weekend. We will have the opportunity to see the work we have done, evaluate it, and learn from each other.

And with that, we will conclude the Cabo de Gata workshop.
